Hřensko (České Švýcarsko), CZ

Read Time: About 2 Minutes

Driven by the need to see something new, I pointed Burt in the direction of the famous České Švýcarsko (Bohemian Switzerland), and we found parking along the river bank in Hřensko. The river runs through the mountains and the houses on both sides are built right next to the rock.

When we started for the climb, it was hot and tiresome. Walking with Byron wasn't a lot of fun and he needed a lot of water. Loaded up with bottles and snacks, we hit the trail, first coming up on closures, due to falling trees. The trail we picked seemed like the novice level, but in the heat, it was still hard work. On the way, some of nature's little treats.

Some way up the trail, a bridge that makes no sense, given its location and lack of water.

We climbed.
The rocks are beautiful and the sand, unexpected (I didn't look this place up before going, as it ruins such surprises).

As the day gave way, shafts of sunlight presented themselves for pics like these.

And eventually, the inevitable silhouette of a rock face. Come on, you didn't think I was gonna leave you hangin'.

I'm aware of the formatting. Leave it alone.

Although this post barely captures the mood of the place, nor its magnificence, I spent most of the time walking and not much of it taking pics. If you were hoping for the rock fingers, I'm sorry, we didn't find them, but I know you're more than content with what I've given you to enjoy. :)

Go there for yourself, next time you're in the area. It's well worth a look. And on a cooler day, you could see a lot more.
