Something takes my breath tonight,
as though I never saw
the early morning and the mist
that forms at ten past four.

Through the dully squandered beams,
a chorus from the lake,
and over on the other side,
a heart about to break.

Something streaming from below,
in haste, evaporates.
But why the rush, I'll never know.
And so, the day awaits.
