After several months in the van, some of them cold, it was without question that the kitchenette I had so lovingly crafted from yet another old bed and some privacy screens was just too big. It was using far too much space and making it almost impossible to move around. This was a recipe for misery. It had to go.
But what to do with the wood? And the space it would leave behind? Surely, there must be something good to come of this disaster.
Enter the bench of convenience.
I would use the wood to make a short bench with a small amount of storage (of course), which would create space for movement, and possibly bikes.
Here goes.
The old kitchenette, faithful, if out of focus. Sorry.
There she is, in all her glory. Time to die.
Pop that bit off...
Cut that in half...
Mock it up a bit...
Stick those bits on the side...
Badabing, badaboom.
And that's it. The bureau and the bench. And a lot of remaining floor mess.
