I have to be honest. I loved the writing table when it was clear, but a big flat surface is pretty much demanding to be overflowing with crap about 100-130% of the time.

It had to go.
But I like it too much to rip it apart, so it's going into storage for a later project.

Since I've removed my kitchenette, there's a pretty important gap in the build. I won't tease you - it's the kitchen.

Worry not, Burtfans. An answer has been found. This time, in the form of an old bureau (thanks again, pops). The logic is flawless. The (smaller) gas bottle can live inside the unit and the hob in the folding section. It packs away neat and it doesn't invite tat because it isn't a flat surface.

Let's have a look.

Get that out, first of all.

Extend the wheel arch to the size of the bureau. It will be heavy, so support is required.

After careful measuring, this strong plywood beam was fitted to the back of the bureau (after removing its back board).

You see how well that works? That beam can be tied to the rail in many places, now, providing much needed support.

Pow! Bureau in. Let there be exquisite, practical furniture.
