New Flooring
Updated:
It's only when you pull everything out that you can find out what's still good and what's seen better days. This is the floor that's been hiding beneath my carpet for the last few years. I think we can agree, it's in the second category.
That's a category two floor, right there.
I pulled it up and found my van's metal floor to be in excellent condition, which, although expected (the rest of the body work is in excellent condition), was still a relief.
The old floor comes out.
Before the new floor can be fitted, the wheel arch and cargo bolt shapes need to be cut out of it. Just laying the old floor on top of the new one and drawing around the holes is good enough, since the wheel arch cover is bigger and will cover it completely, anyway, and the cargo bolt holes just need to be approximate.
The new floor being shaped with a jigsaw.
A drop-in replacement that looks better and feels much more solid.
This van's interior space is 3.5m long, so there are several pieces to the floor. The other side also needs to be shared around the wheel arch in much the same fashion. The final piece is just a smaller rectangle.
Next, the mylar lining...
