Petrovičky, CZ

Read Time: About 1 Minute

After Mariánské Lázně, I followed the trail towards Plzeň, but, in my usual style, got completely sidetracked and ended up somewhere else. This was Petrovičky - A tiny, picturesque village surrounded by the usual fields and forests that make Czech villages so appealing to me. And in the center of the village was a well with a big pump on top of it.

After my ordeal with that fountain water, I was only too happy to flush my water stock and start again. The well pump was wobbly as, but it worked, albeit in the noisiest possible way. That pump was screeching like a fork on a frying pan. Luckily, I follow my own advice and carry WD40 everywhere I go. A few squirts of that sorted out that pump and I was happy as Larry, filling up my water tanks with much cleaner water. I was even able to wash the yellow crust off my face that the holy water had left there. Happy days.

As the light faded, that beautiful few minutes they call "Magic Hour" swept its glorious golden light over a tiny chapel, and the promise of yet another unseasonal storm came in from the west, providing a nice bit of texture for this shot.

A quiet pump and a cinematic chapel. What more could you ask for?
