Painted Stones
Updated:
I sat on a bench in Dráchov, to watch the river and the little waterfall and the canoes, and I was joined by an elderly man, who sat silently opposite me for a few minutes, until I was ready to accept we weren't going to be BFFs. As I got up to leave, I noticed a little painted stone, perched on the table, under a heavy rock (that was also on the table). I picked it up and had a look. On the back, a serial number, of all things. 37011.
Although I doubt that someone has actually painted close to forty-thousand rocks, I can't rule it out, having shot well over a million photographs in the last decade. Still, the idea was nice and I took the stone home to Burt and put it on the shelf.
The next day, after I arrived in Bechyně, I parked up next to a beautiful church and got out to take Byron for a spin. After a few minutes, I came across a statue, and perched atop the pedestal, I found another stone. On the back, another serial number. 39165. They've been busy.
Wonder what I'll find in the next town.
Update: They're not serial numbers, they're zip codes. :)
