Read Time: About 1 Minute

When I left for my summer road trip, the garden beds were filled with interesting plants. I'll be honest, of course; I wasn't sure how many of them would be successful vegetables and how many were just "weeds". But, after returning from my trip, a month later, the answer was obvious. And it's not great. In my absence, a gang of tall plants have colonized the beds, apparently murdered the natives, and established themselves as rulers. I have grown something I had no idea about, and it doesn't look like I will have any organic, home-grown vegetables to share with my boy, this year. :(

Who are these guys?!

I have no idea where the onions and cabbages went. There don't appear to be any potatoes or rocket, and I can't account for the other seeds I planted, either. I'm left accepting that my first growing season has mainly been an exercise in how not to do it. More study is clearly needed. Thankfully, I have recently received some lovely books on exactly this topic, and with the fall approaching, there will be plenty of opportunities to read them.

Thanks for following my garden experiments, this year. I hope to have better news, the next time around. :)

Gingernut doesn't give a damn, as long as there's something to chew.
