The 2026 Version
Updated:
Well, that was quick. We're still finding out feet, over here, at Burtman HQ.
The next year is going to bring some simplification, because things have gotten a little ridiculous.
Let me explain.
When I came up with this website, I had a lot of ideas that I wanted to explore, and I put all the best ones into the blender and made a Burtman pie. And for some, it was delicious. Like all good pies, though, it's been kinda tricky to make. The ingredients are expensive and working them is very time-consuming. A lot of the time, we end up with a bunch of sticky mess. It's not ideal.
Over the past few years, I've been sharing a lot of the things I've been getting up to and learning, because it made sense to me that people would be interested in the creative side of being an unemployed bum. But that wasn't really the case. In fact, I think my wide range of content has just made the whole place overwhelming and hard to navigate. And that's not just because someone told me that my wide range of content makes the place overwhelming and hard to navigate, either. Although that did happen.
So, in 2026, which might well be the last year of Burtman, I'm going back to basics.
There are still quite a few van guides to write, and I'd like to get those done. They depend on good weather, though, since I do all the jobs myself and some of them are just awful in the winter (not to mention impossible - spray painting and filling being among that category).
Aside from that, I'm going to be focusing much more intently on film production and related works. I won't be publishing behind-the-scenes work, early-access, or other content that seems like an off-the-cuff bonus but actually takes tons of work to produce. I'll continue with my
Stories From The Road series, but everything else will be paused, at least until I find time and space to pick up again.
I have struggled to reach people with this blog, and although I do have a small base of very meaningful followers, for whom I am very grateful, the overall workload of producing content for this site is basically an unpaid job, which I can no longer afford to turn up to.
So there you have it.
The 2026 version of Burtman.net is going to be a stripped-down affair. If it survives the year, there may be some more exciting updates. If not, thanks and farewell.
