This Won't Take Long
Updated:
When Burt arrived, I had precisely one requirement. Somewhere to sleep. I was about to emigrate and it had taken a long time to find a decent van, leaving me just a few days to sort it out. It was summer and I wasn't planning on spending much time in the van. I already had my camping table, courtesy of Burtdad, and my camping cooker.
My kitchen and games table.
There was a partial plywood lining, but it made no difference. Burtdad cut some steel bars he had laying about and we fitted them across the width of the van, threw a plywood sheet over them and my mattress from the house on top of that.
And we were done. End of Mk1 build.
We proceeded to travel across Europe without so much as a light bulb, and I don't remember the grin ever leaving my face. I was on the road, and that's all I'd ever wanted.
