Impact Socket

A heavy duty socket designed for use in high pressure applications, which necessitate the use of greater force than a typical socket could tolerate. An impact socket can be used with an impact driver to free up stuck bolts that can't be removed by hand or even with air-line tools like air ratchets.

Impact sockets are made from a stronger material and the walls are thicker, to resist damage from high-impact shock tools.
