Unexpected Treats

Updated:

I'm on my way to Prague, for a long weekend, but true to my design, I'm taking the scenic route. It takes a lot longer and it's worth it. I'm now more than 300 villages into my exploration and I'm dying of hunger. Despite best efforts, the odd town is going to spring up, with its usual traffic and its cockney piglets, with their thirst for trouble-making. Luckily for me, though, this particular town has excessive road works. Yeah, ok, that's never lucky, but today, it was. The diversion led me through a tiny village I would have missed, and when I came around the corner, I saw a sign that may as well have been made of gold.

I pulled up and trotted in like a happy goat. Inside, a calm vibe and a friendly couple who greeted Byron with a treat and me with a smile. I ordered most of the menu and took a seat, outside. Shortly, a bowl of water arrived for my boy and my first course landed in front of me. As I enjoyed the refueling process, the couple came outside. They were eager to engage and we were soon chatting about travels and food and all the usual stuff, and as we did, a kinship emerged.
A week later, on the way back through, this time, with Burtwoman, we made a point of stopping at 269 and I was greeted like a friend. The four of us continued on as though we'd just left off, and when it was time to move on, having scoffed several dishes, coffee, and cakes, and having stocked up on choco and dog treats, we were given water for the tanks and a bag of burger buns, which we used to create these mofos:
Tempeh, cherry tomatoes, gherkins, pesto, avocado and spices. The "Burtger" (thanks to a typo in the filename).
Here's to our new friends at 269. We will stop by for another chat the next time we are around.
