Jump Starter
Jump starters can deliver extremely high currents and misuse can result in death or serious injury. Never use a damaged unit. Never use in rain unless the unit specifically states that it is ok to do so. Always read the manual before use.
A jump starter is a battery pack designed to deliver high currents for short periods of time in order to jump start a vehicle.
A jump starter has charge level indicators, emergency over-ride and a short jump lead attachment.
To use, just connect the leads to the unit, attach the jaws of the leads to the battery (red to positive, black to negative) and turn on the unit. A decent jump starter will only operate if the connection polarity is correct and the battery is in good health. After the time stated in the product manual, switch the unit off again. If you need to repeat, make sure you leave enough time in between uses, as specified in the product manual.
Let the jump starter run for a few seconds before attempting to start the engine. If the battery is just a little low to start the engine, a single use should be enough. Be aware that repeated attempts to start the engine will significantly lower you battery's state of charge, so don't crank it for longer than needed and don't try starting the engine until you are sure you have a good chance of getting it going.
If your vehicle's battery is not located in the engine bay, you may need to extend the cables by attaching a set of Jump Leads. Before trying that, always check all components for damage and make sure that all connections are secure and safe from accidental contact with metallic surfaces. Connect the other end of the jump lead extension to the battery or battery jump points and continue as per the product usage instructions.
Once your engine is running, don't switch it off for at least 15 minutes, so it will have a chance to recharge from the alternator. Plug the jump starter into the lighter socket with the provided USB cigar outlet and let it recharge from the engine. If you don't use your jump starter for a long time, it may need to be recharged before use.
